Thinking of Starting a New Charter School? Advanced Training

TCSA announces its charter start-up training series for educational reformers and entrepreneurs. This one-day training session is designed for all persons thinking about applying for a charter school through the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE).This seven-hour training session aims to empower future charter leaders with knowledge for the development of a competitive charter application and an effective charter school.

Charter Start Advanced – Ideal for persons who attended “Charter Start Beginner” and for those seeking clarifying guidance on legal, administrative, budget, and political matters that may impact the application process.  Persons attending this training should be well on thier way to completing the Generation 17 Charter School Application by the Feb. 2012 TEA Deadline.

The goal of this training is to provide attendees with additional critical insight into the application process and provide quality feedback on your application development. This will not be a sit and get lecture, we will be spending the majority of time reviewing your developing application. The more developed your application is the better feedback we can provide you.

The training will involve a application station review where the participants will be broken into stations where experts will review applications, answer questions and make suggestions for improvement. The key stations will be: Legal, Financial, Academics, Logistics, and External Appraisal.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Persons or groups interested in applying for the Generation 17 application due Feb. 23, 2012 who did not attend the mandatory TEA Charter Application Conference on Oct. 6th, 2011, must attend the last offered TEA Charter Applicant Conference on Dec. 8th, 2011 at TEA headquarters located in the Travis Building in Austin, Texas. It is a requirement that any person or group who plans to apply for a Generation 17 charter school attend an orientation. Attending our training does not count as the mandatory Charter Applicant Conference (there has been some confusion in the past). Our training is additional training designed to give potential applicants strategies and best practices to produce the most competitive application possible. If you have already attended the orientation session on the Oct. 6th, 2011 and plan to turn in a Generation 17 application, then attending our training session would be of tremendous value.

See TEA website for mandatory Charter School Applicant Conference information. http://www.tea.state.tx.us/index2.aspx?id=3475
